Oily Skin

Oily skin is caused by too much sebum production. Sebum is just the naturally oily substance our sebaceous glands produce to help lubricate and protect our skin. People can get oily due to several things like: genetics, hormones, diet, and environment. Sometimes skin is so dehydrated that it gets oily because the sebaceous glads are working overtime to reach homeostasis.

Nerd moment: homeostasis is when a living organism, tries to find balance in its environment.

Managing oily skin involves adopting a skincare routine that controls oil production without stripping the skin of its essential moisture. Begin with a gentle cleanser that effectively removes dirt and excess oil without over-drying the skin. It's essential to avoid harsh products that can trigger the skin to produce even more oil as a compensatory response. Incorporate a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated while preventing clogged pores. Ingredients like salicylic acid and niacinamide can help regulate oil production and minimize pores.
